The history of Voluntary Fire-brigade in Michałowice has its origins in the year 1928, when it was initiated by the then village administrator Jakub Szybiński. Close wooden build of the village and thatched roofs created huge fire danger. Fires which were damaging houses were very frequent. The only help of that times was the help one received from his neighbours. The idea of creating fire brigade gained popularity and 30 companions submitted their will to join the organization. The Board was chosen, first president’s name was Stanisław Boniecki, first secretary- Stanisław Gwiazda, treasurer- Antoni Witkowski, host- Jan Małek, superior- Józef Skrzypek.
The inhabitants of the village had collected money and due to that fire-hose, boat-hook, and fire engine were bought.
With the financial help of President Boniecki a shed for keeping equipment was also built. In the year 1929 profits gained from tombola and dancing organized in Strykowski forest were spent on uniforms and the other car.
As we can find out from the chronicle in the year 1932 a group of volunteers from Michałowice took part in fire competition and won. Local shows were organized with help of hostesses, youth and children, usually in private homes or square.
In 1933 Marian Listwoń and Szczepan Sałata became members of the Board. Different dancings, plays, shows and other outdoor parties were organized. Fire- brigade was the initiator, the inhabitants of the village were willing to work and help. Cultural and social life was strictly connected with it. In 1935 during the general assembly the idea of building a fire station was given. The then Board purchased stones and from town Grzmiąca transported it with horses through the icy river Pilica to the building site. In 1936 it was decided that the Common House is going to be built. In Ługowice in the kiln of president Boniecki bricks were produced. Actions of the then village-mayor and vice president Sczepan Sałata were huge help. The member of District Board was then Walenty Szybiński who was also a president of fire-brigade in Michałowice. The ambition of the local commune was to build the same house as in Lubania, although the village was much smaller and poorer. The aim was gained. In 1939 two rooms of the new house were given to a school. Lessons took place there until the year 1959, when a new school was built. The unit had used horses as means of transport until the year 1960. The bought car Dodga, although it was old was a success and happiness for everyone. Becouse of lack of parts the car had to be cancelled and the cart came back but pulled by tractor. Since 1984 the main aim of the unit was to rebuilt the fire station and to gain new fire engine. In 1989 second building of the fire brigade started to be used. Thanks to tries of companion Stefan Fetraś and the then mayor in 1994 the fire engine DAF was transported from Holland. It still serves the village. Currently the unit consists of 24 active members and one honourable. It owns huge garage with DAF fire engine. The unit is active whole year, despite of the temperatures. Inside the building there are to ball rooms which can take 200 of guests. There is also equipped kitchen, freezer, magnificent tableware. The rooms can be hired. In 2007 the youth sport club RAZEM in Michałowice was created. The unit let them use their rooms and equipped.
